AHYW Machine Tools: Rebuilding an Export Website Around How Buyers Specify Machines

We signed a website development agreement with Anhui Yawei Machine Tool Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (AHYW), a sheet metal machinery manufacturer based in Maanshan, Anhui, to rebuild its English-language export website. The goal was simple to state and hard to execute: turn a catalog of more than 120 machine models into a site that an overseas buyer can actually navigate, compare and request a quote from.

Who the client is

Founded in 2005, AHYW runs a 49,999 square meter plant with around 300 employees and produces CNC hydraulic press brakes, hydraulic shearing machines, fiber laser cutting machines and CNC robotic arms. The company holds ISO 9001 and CE certification, sells to more than 100 countries and regions, and manufactures OEM machines for its European agent. This is a manufacturer whose website has to work as a sales channel, not a brochure.

The problem with the old site

AHYW's previous English site carried the full product range, but it was organized the way the factory thinks, not the way a buyer shops. Machine families were mixed together, specifications lived in downloadable PDFs, and the inquiry form asked for little more than a name and a message. On a phone over a slow connection — the normal situation for a purchasing manager in Brazil, Turkey or Vietnam — loading the catalog took long enough that many visitors never reached a product page at all.

Structure built around machine families

We started with a catalog audit rather than a design brief. The 120-plus models were grouped into four machine families — press brake, shearing machine, fiber laser cutting machine and robotic arm — and each family received its own landing page with a comparison table of tonnage, bending length, axis count and control system. Model pages carry the full specification table inline, so a buyer can read the numbers without opening a PDF. Application pages for automotive, HVAC, shipbuilding, electrical enclosures and railway link each machine family to the industries that use it.

Trust signals in the first screen

For industrial exports, trust is the conversion bottleneck. The homepage now leads with production photography, then puts the numbers a procurement team checks first: 40 years of industry experience, 100+ countries and regions served, 20% of sales reinvested in R&D, ISO 9001 and CE certification. Factory photos, certification scans and the European OEM relationship sit one click away from the product pages instead of being buried in an About section.

Built for Google, not just for looks

Every machine family and application page has its own title, description and clean URL, with Product and Organization structured data in the markup. We generated an XML sitemap, kept the English and Chinese versions on separate URL paths with hreflang tags, and compressed the heavy machine photography so pages render quickly on mobile networks. Nothing here is exotic; it is simply the groundwork that lets a manufacturer rank for searches like "250 ton press brake supplier" instead of only bidding on them.

An inquiry path that matches how buyers ask

The RFQ form now starts with machine model and required tonnage, then asks for material thickness and destination country — the four things AHYW's sales engineers need before they can quote. WhatsApp, email and phone sit in the header on every page, and each regional dealer can be pointed to a localized contact block. The result is fewer one-line messages and more inquiries that arrive with enough detail to answer in a single reply.

What changed for the sales team

The practical outcome is speed on both sides of the transaction. A buyer comparing a 250T/3200 four-axis press brake against a 160T alternative can now do it on one screen instead of emailing for two PDFs. For AHYW's export staff, a single product or application link replaces a folder of attachments in every first reply. Dealers get pages they can share without translation work, and the marketing team can add a new model without waiting on a developer.

If your export site still treats a 120-model catalog as a flat list of thumbnails, the fix is architectural, not cosmetic. Start with the buyer's decision path, then let design and SEO follow it.
